U9 Netball v King’s Hawford

Result: 1-6 BCS, 0-11 BCS, 2-5 BCS

Players of the Match: Leni, Lyla and Aoife

The U9 netball teams enjoyed an excellent start to the season with three five-a-side fixtures against King’s Hawford. For many girls, this was their first competitive match, and they approached the games with enthusiasm and confidence. All players rotated through positions, gaining valuable experience and developing their understanding of the game.

The teams demonstrated strong passing, good movement into space and a growing awareness of court positioning. As the matches progressed, confidence increased and this was reflected in three dominant wins. The girls supported one another well and showed excellent teamwork throughout. It was a very encouraging performance and there is clearly a great deal of potential to build on as the season develops.

U11 Netball v Bromsgrove

Outdoor Team

Result: 2-20 BCS, 3-9 BCS

Players of the Match: Lana and Amelia

The U11 girls produced a confident and encouraging set of performances across two matches. In the first fixture, the team dominated from the outset, showing excellent spacing, quick passing and growing confidence in possession. Strong defensive work led to numerous turnovers, which were converted calmly in the shooting circle, resulting in a well-deserved and convincing win.

The second match proved much more evenly contested, with both teams battling hard for possession and working well across the court. However, our stronger shooting accuracy and composure under pressure made the difference, allowing the girls to edge ahead and secure another victory. Across both matches, the team demonstrated clear progress in teamwork, game understanding and confidence, making it a very positive outing for the group.

U11 Netball v Bromsgrove

Indoor Team

Result: 20-11 BCS

Player of the Match: Ree

BCS U11s played their first match of the season against Bromsgrove School in what was an energetic and competitive fixture. Both teams showed great enthusiasm and commitment throughout the game.

Bromsgrove proved to be the stronger side on the day, working hard off the ball and making well-timed runs into space. Their passing was accurate and purposeful, and once the ball reached the circle they converted their opportunities well, consistently finding the net.

Despite this, the BCS girls showed real determination and never gave up. They battled for every ball and continued to work hard right until the final whistle. Bromsgrove gradually chipped away at the scoreline and went on to secure a confident 20–11 win.

There is plenty for the BCS girls to work on as the season progresses, but their strong work ethic and positive attitude were clear to see. With that mindset, I’m confident they will continue to improve. Well done, BCS.

U11 Netball v EHS

Result: 4-13 BCS, 6-7 BCS, 14-3 BCS

Players of the Match: Amber, Luna and Erica

It was a fantastic afternoon of netball, with every Year 6 pupil involved in a match. Three teams played at home against EHS, and for many girls, this was their first match of the spring term. There were lots of excellent moments of play, with the girls successfully putting into practice the skills we have been working on in lessons, in particular, dodging away from defenders to create space and receive the ball.

Shooting accuracy was especially impressive and, in Mrs Patching-Jones’ match, Hannah and Alana worked superbly as a shooting partnership, barely missing a shot between them. Overall, the team’s movement and timing had clearly improved from last week, allowing the ball to move quickly down the court without stalling in the centre third.

Well done to everyone involved – it was a great confidence boost for many of the girls.
