U11 Hockey v WarwickÂ
Player of the Match: AnaiÂ
Result: BCS 0-3
The U11 girls faced a strong opposition this week, coming up against a team whose players clearly benefitted from experience gained at clubs outside of school. Their stick skills, speed and power on the ball were evident throughout, and this proved to be the difference on the day.
Although BCS were defeated, the girls showed great determination and resilience, continuing to work hard in both attack and defence. With this being so early in the school fixtures season, there is plenty of time for development. As the team builds confidence in their passing, positioning and teamwork, results will begin to reflect their effort and progress. With commitment on the training ground, the girls will undoubtedly continue to improve and grow as a team.

U9 Rugby v Warwick Junior SchoolÂ
On Tuesday afternoon, our U9s travelled to Warwick Junior School for a very special occasion: their first ever experience of full contact rugby. With five teams in action, there was plenty of excitement and energy on display throughout the afternoon. The focus was very much on learning and enjoyment rather than results, and it was fantastic to see every player embrace the challenge. The introduction of tackling brought lots of courage and commitment, and the pupils grew in confidence with each game. There were strong runs, some excellent teamwork, and increasingly determined defensive efforts. Every player had their moment, whether carrying the ball into contact, making a brave tackle, or encouraging their teammates. By the final whistle, the pupils had taken huge steps forward in their rugby journey. They should feel very proud of their first contact rugby experience, and we look forward to building on this in the weeks to come.

The U11 girls took to the pitch with great energy as we trialled a new formation designed to suit our developing strengths. From the first whistle, the team played with real determination, showing lioness hearts in their tackling and commitment across the field. A moment of quality came when Emily drove in from the left and fired an excellent shot just inside the circle to score. This was a well-deserved reward for the team’s hard work and a sign of the progress being made. Every player contributed to a spirited performance, with Adeline particularly impressive in her all-round play, earning the accolade of Player of the Match.
This was an encouraging display and another step forward, leaving plenty to be excited about for the rest of the season.
Player of the Match: Kimran
Result: 3-1
In the next match, we produced a strong performance to secure a well-earned 3–1 victory. From the outset, the girls showed great teamwork, moving the ball effectively and creating chances with confidence. Their determination in defence and Amalia’s willingness to press high up the pitch made it difficult for the opposition to settle.
The goals were shared across the team with Sukhmani scoring two, each finished with composure to cap off some excellent build-up play. King’s Hawford battled hard, but our girls remained focused and kept control of the game. Every player contributed to the success, but Kimran’s energy, skill, and consistency throughout the match stood out, earning her the Player of the Match award.
A fantastic result that highlights the progress being made and gives the team real momentum going forward.
U11 Rugby v Warwick
Players of the Match: Zach, Nyre, Joe, Matthew, Adam and Mahrus
A great afternoon of rugby by all the Year 6 boys at Warwick. Mr Protherough’s team had a convincing win with Zach, Nyre, Garrick and Joe displaying great running ability with the boy. Samraj was excellent in defence (if only a few more could tackle like him!) Whilst Yixi’s support and link play was excellent! Plenty to work on as we tended to run across the pitch to much and are still a bit standoffish in the breakdown but this group are a pleasure to work with.
With Mr Melia, Mahrus, Adam and Matthew had great games running well with the ball, and Riyan showed much improved fitness and intensity. If there is a theme across both teams, it is the boys need to become quicker to react to the changing dynamics of the game, the boys need to stay in the moment and adapt to the altering scenarios that the game throws up. The subtle positioning changes top players make is why they seem to be ahead of the game and this is an area we need to improve.
