On the weekend of the 18th and 19th of May, 201 of our pupils sat our annual exam event for LAMDA. We hosted 3 examiners on each day, all of which commented on how welcomed they felt and how delightful our pupils are.
Years 1-3 had to recite a poem by heart, and then converse about either objects, pictures or books. The pupils really respond well to this part of the exam, learning the importance of sitting, listening and replying. These skills are so important and will give them a solid foundation as they move forward with their LAMDA journey.
Year 4 had to recite 2 poems. They answered questions about the content of the poems and were asked to explain word definitions, expanding their knowledge of literature and vocabulary.Â
Year 5 and 6 worked on vital presentation skills, having to write, research and deliver speeches. The year 5 criteria is to write a speech about a book. We had a range of authors, from Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle to the origins of The Phone Book and Yellow Pages! This is when pupils start to learn their research skills, which will prove invaluable to them as they progress through academia into adult life.
Year 6 write about an event, visit or experience, and entertained and informed with subjects that covered amazing holidays, Christmas with family and living with ADHD.
I would like to thank Archie Marks, who came to steward with me on exam day. I would like to offer my congratulations and thanks to The Theatre Workshop (Alice, Archie, Morgan and Cerys) for their enthusiasm and commitment to deliver LAMDA to the pupils. I would also like to extend my thanks to parents who continue to support and understand the value of what we do.Â
I’m so proud and humbled by the talent we have here at Blue Coat. Congratulations to all of the pupils who took part. You are a credit to the school.
