It was wonderful to see such closely contested games and, most importantly, to watch the girls from both schools enjoying their cricket and demonstrating great enthusiasm throughout the afternoon.

U9 Cricket v RGS

The U9 boys enjoyed a closely contested cricket match which resulted in a well-earned victory. The game remained competitive throughout, with both teams showing enthusiasm and determination.

There were some excellent moments with both bat and ball, and the boys worked hard for each other in the field. Several players showed good confidence when batting and there were some strong efforts in the field especially from Aahil, which helped us edge ahead at important moments in the game.

Although the team performed well overall, there are still areas to improve. We need to continue developing our concentration levels throughout the match and focus on improving some of the basic skills, particularly catching, backing up and consistent bowling.

Most importantly, all of the boys played with great energy and enjoyment and represented the school brilliantly. It was fantastic to see everyone having fun and growing in confidence as the match progressed.

U11 Cricket v RGS

Player of the Match: Batter – Hannah, Bowler – Amalia

The U11 girls produced an excellent all round performance against RGS The Grange, winning convincingly and demonstrating just how much girls’ cricket continues to develop within the school.

From the outset, the girls were stronger in every area of the game. The batting was confident and composed, with players showing excellent decision making, positive running between the wickets and a growing ability to place the ball into space. Partnerships were built sensibly and the team maintained pressure on the opposition throughout the innings.

The bowling performance was equally impressive, with accurate and disciplined bowling restricting scoring opportunities and leading to regular wickets. In the field, the girls displayed outstanding energy and teamwork, backing each other up brilliantly and showing real commitment to every ball.

Most pleasing of all was the confidence, communication and cricket understanding shown across the entire team. The standard of play highlighted the continued progress and development of girls’ cricket, and every player contributed positively to a superb team performance.

A fantastic result and a thoroughly deserved victory for the girls.

U10 Cricket v Warwick

Players of the Match: George & Johnny

The U10 Boys playing only their second game of the term produced a fine performance against Warwick to avenge their defeat earlier in the season. The bowling in general was very good with George, and Jonathan being the pick of the bowlers, Johnny picked up the most wickets by doing the simple thing of bowling at the stumps! In general everyone bowled well and Isaac did a good job behind the stumps. The batting in general was good, and although the running was chaotic to say the least it put pressure on the fielders and more times than not we made it. George and Jasraaj bought a sense of calm at the end and showed great composure to bring home the victory, well done.

U11 Cricket v RGS (Hard Ball)

Players of the Match: Batter- Anai, Bowler – Kimran

Result: BCS win 282-218

After the disappointment of having their IAPS tournament cancelled, the U11 girls arrived determined to make a statement against RGS and they certainly did.

Captain Anai won the toss and chose to field first. The girls have developed into a very impressive cricket team, with their bowling showing increasing pace and accuracy. Their fielding was equally sharp, backing up brilliantly and returning the ball quickly to create several run-out opportunities.

There were wickets shared throughout the innings, with Kimi leading the way with two wickets, while Ree, Amber, Jaya, and Sukhmani all claimed one wicket apiece. Thanks to their disciplined bowling and energetic fielding, they restricted the opposition to just 218 runs.

Buoyed by their excellent work in the field, the girls carried their dominance into the batting innings. Every pair contributed positively, rotating the strike well and scoring freely. Their teamwork and confidence with the bat saw them finish on a superb 282 runs, securing a convincing victory.

It was a fantastic all-round performance and a wonderful response to the frustration of missing out on the IAPS tournament. The girls are improving with every game and are rapidly becoming a formidable cricket team. Well done to everyone involved on an excellent team victory!
