U10 HOCKEY V KING’S HAWFORD

Result: Blue Coat win 3-1

Player of the Match: Ava-Mae

The girls came out strong for the first game of the season against King’s Hawford. Eager to go forward, we dribbled with determination towards the D. In defence, Hannah made some strong tackles, was quick to set up for the hit outs and get the ball wide. In attack, we were eager to go forward but needed to hold our shape and use the width; passing early before the defence closed us down. Ava-Mae was strong in attack and hit the ball hard when she got into the D and was rewarded with a goal. A strong start girls, well done.

U10 HOCKEY V KING’S HAWFORD

Result: King’s Hawford win 5-1

Player of the Match: Pippa

This was the first match of the season and the team seemed somewhat lacking in confidence especially when King’s Hawford had scored within the first minute. As the match went on, we gained more possession and seeked to go forwards with some good dribbling down the wing from Freya. With a positional change at half time, we managed to score which gave us some motivation. However, King’s Hawford proved too strong and took the match.

U9 RUGBY FESTIVAL V RGS AT RGS

Players of the Match: Nyre, Joe and Chester

The U9 Rugby teams travelled to RGS: The Grange for their first ever Rugby festival where the games would involve contact and tackling. Each of the three teams played four fixtures versus various opponents; with the emphasis not on the score but learning and developing in each game. The players showcased tenacity in their tackling and learnt how to bring down a ball carrier running at pace. In each game, progress was made in developing an understanding of laws of the game and how to attack and defend in contact games of rugby which will help as the term progresses and more fixtures are played. There were impressive performances by Nyre, Joe, and Chester for their teams.

U11 HOCKEY V RGS THE GRANGE

Result: Blue Coat win 2-1

Player of the Match: Destinee

This Wednesday, the U11’s had their first hockey fixture and it was a cracking start to the season. In lessons, we have been working on using the width of the pitch and moving ahead of the play and during the game, they did exactly that. Maliha and Karen were awesome on the wing driving the ball up the pitch.
