U10 Hockey v Solihull
Players of the Match: Oona, Heidi, Azalea and Delia
Results: BCS 3-0, BCS 3-0, 0-0 and BCS 4-1
The U10 girls travelled to Solihull Prep with four teams, all eager to showcase what they have learnt throughout the first half term. It was fantastic to see how much their individual skills have developed over the past few weeks, with players demonstrating greater control, confidence on the ball, and improved stick work. Their passing, tackling, and understanding of space have all come a long way, leading to some excellent team play across the matches. With one team drawing and three securing impressive wins, it was a highly successful afternoon for BCS on the hockey pitch. The girls should be extremely proud of their progress, determination, and the positive sporting spirit they displayed throughout the fixtures.
U9 Hockey v SolihullÂ
Players of the Match: Sky, Anika, Anisa and Amrita
Blue Coat took four mixed-ability U9 teams to play in a round-robin fixture against Solihull, enjoying a fantastic afternoon of hockey. Across all games, the girls showed great enthusiasm, teamwork, and a growing understanding of the game.
As the afternoon went on, they developed brilliantly – learning to hold their positions, make forward runs to support the ball carrier, and pass early to keep the game flowing. Every player contributed with energy and determination, and it was wonderful to see their confidence build with each match. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon of hockey – well done, girls!
U11 Rugby v RGSÂ
Players of the Match: Garrick, Riyan and Nyre
Another great afternoon of rugby against RGS for the U11’s. In the 1st game, the boys showed superb perseverance to turn around a 4 try deficit to claim a draw playing some of the best rugby of the term so far and scoring some amazing tries. In truth, the first half was a lot closer than the scoreline suggested, the boys support play was excellent we just lost the ball at crucial moments and missed a few crucial tackles.
In the 2nd half, the defence was much better and this forced mistakes from RGS which we capitalised on. Garrick and Nyre’s elusive running was a catalyst for a lot of the breaks we made and the support at times was so good, but the most important skill this boys possess is resilience, they don’t give up. There are still things to work on like all players moving forward in defence, one on one tackling, and not running sideways but they have heart and desire which is great to see, well done! The other games were nip and tuck affairs with players like Riyan showing again how much he has developed, and Rohan showing his electric footwork. So far a really pleasing term lets hope they keep developing.

It was fantastic to see growing confidence in attack and excellent tagging in defence. The afternoon celebrated participation and progress, leaving all players smiling and eager for the next fixture.
U8 Hockey v Solihull Prep School
BCS were delighted to host Solihull for an exciting afternoon of U8 girls hockey. For many of our players, this was their very first fixture, and the occasion was marked with great energy and enthusiasm.
The festival-style format allowed the girls to take part in a series of small-sided 5v5 matches, providing plenty of opportunities to get stuck in, build confidence, and develop their skills in a fun and supportive environment.
It was fantastic to see the progress made throughout the afternoon – from improved positioning and passing to growing teamwork and determination. Most importantly, the girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience, with smiles all round from start to finish.
A big thank you to Solihull for making the journey to us, and to all the parents for coming along and cheering the teams on. Your support is always appreciated!
