Mind Fuel for Young Explorers by Bear Grylls

Review by Jaya (3RB)

Mind fuel for young explorers is about how to stay healthy in remote places like jungles and mountains. It was very interesting because it teaches me about how to survive for example, if you are high up on a mountain you should breathe slowly to preserve energy and prevent altitude sickness. It was also very humorous in the way it delivers information, making a serious topic more light hearted.

I would recommend this book to year 3,4,5 or 6 pupils who like exploration and having fun.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Review by Isaac (4ED)

The book was about a boy called Percy Jackson. He has a friend called Grover and they both go to the same school. Percy doesn’t know it yet but he isn’t an ordinary boy and neither is Grover. The story is about adventures they have, and it involves Zeus, Poseidon, Aries and Hades!

I liked that there was a lot of magic in the story. I couldn’t stop reading it because I loved it so much and woke up really early before school to read it.

I would recommend it to anyone in the whole world as the book is so enjoyable!

Wonder by R J Palacio

Review by Avaani (5KA)

This book is about a boy called August. He has a disability so he didn’t exactly make friends easily. Throughout the book, August participates in adventures both good and bad. August has a sister called Via who tries to help him when she can, even though she struggles with her own problems.

I like that throughout the book the reader experiences mixed emotions, some happy and some sad. The best part about this book is that you can’t put it down.

I would recommend this book to students in year 5 and over. I also recommend reading the book before watching the film.

The Girl with Space in her Heart by Lara Williamson

Review by Omi (6MT)

This book is about a young girl called Mabel who grows suspicious about her mum’s new boyfriend throughout the book . Together, Mabel and Terrible Topaz – Mabel’s older sister – must find out the secrets that Galactic Gavin is hiding. That is what they call their mum’s boyfriend at least.

I love how the author writes poems in the book in between chapters and I would recommend it to anyone who loves stars and all about space.
